I started out as a painter and have never imagined this pile of household objects here to be my “palette”. How did it happen?
Since moving into my home two years ago, I have been exploring the livelihood stores in my neighbourhood, Marsiling. I was yearning for a greater intimacy with my art materials and decided to adopt everyday objects into my works. I would make trips to the stores and pick out things that bring me delight or curiosity.
Overtime, I noticed a pattern in my hauls from these stores - cleaning cloths. They reminded me of painting surfaces. Their varied colors, textures and shapes are enticing me to put them together into some sort of a painting.
