listening to nothing but hearing things, listening to things but hearing nothing

Utilising floor traps and bubble wrap, I crafted this sound-wall sculpture to encapsulate the ambient noises of my daily life that I habitually tune out—the droning air conditioner, the buzzing overworked fridge, the comforting fan, the chatty neighbours, and the rush of their water through my toilet pipes. These sounds become strikingly prominent the moment they cease. By assembling these everyday sounds interspersed with moments of silence, I yearn for a cleansing of my ears, to hear the richness of life surrounding me.
